Bittersweet News For the Polish Food Lovers of Connecticut

Polish cuisine fans of Connecticut, we lost Staropolska last year, and I just found out that another one of our favorites is on the market. Don't start hoarding pierogi just yet, the news is bittersweet.

The owner of Polish Plate at 1095 West Street in Southington has just announced to us customers via social media that her authentic Polish restaurant and catering business is officially up for sale. According to the statement, the owner, Margaret, has accepted a new job with the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services, and she's ready to step away from the smell of boiling cabbage in order to keep a tab on all of the cheddar that comes out of our paychecks.

The good news? No offers have been made or accepted yet on the property or concept, and Polish Plate will continue to be open and operating for the time being. Unlike some who close up the shop after hours, never to be heard from again, this is an opportunity to use up your gift cards, stock up on your favorites a few more times, and hope that there's a rich ESPN Polish cuisine lover that is sick of watching sports all day and would rather form pierogi and chop kielbasa all day.

The last few times we enjoyed Polish Plate's food was at Torrington's Strawberry Festival, and we recently stopped into the store for a couple dozen cabbage and cheese pierogi. Excellent both times. Good luck, I hope someone takes you up on the offer.
