Do You Know About the Connecticut Christmas Movie Trail?
Have I been living under a rock? Why have I never seen this before? It's a genius idea whoever created it and since I just came across this yesterday, I needed to make sure to share it with all of you.
A release from Governor Lamont came out last month about Connecticut's Christmas Movie Trail which is the first one in the nation. The purpose of the trail is to let movie lovers experience some of the places where their favorite movies were filmed. Do you ever see a town in the movie you're watching and wish you were able to experience it? That's the idea they have going here.
Not only do you get a map of the 22 locations, but the website has an ideal itinerary for you to do at each of those locations. Some examples include cozy inns, cafes, charming shops, and attractions where many of the movies were brought to life.
This idea is genius if I do say so myself. We always talk about how some towns in Connecticut are perfect 'Hallmark movie towns' and well look at that, now you have an entire map with a plan at each location. The movies on the map range from Hallmark films to Lifetime, Netflix, BET and Universal Studios. There's a little bit for everyone.
Here's a look at the map to take you around Connecticut:
You can technically do these in a row, or you can just find your favorite movie and head there. Once you find which movie you'd like to go see, the site directs you to a list of every movie that's listed on the map with a recommended itinerary of what do you when you're there.
For example, if you were looking to go see Christmas on Hockeysuckle Lane, the site tells you all about its connection to Connecticut and where to go. The scenes filmed in Connecticut with is historic Old Wethersfield. The itinerary for your trip is as follows:
- Walk Main Street in Old Wethersfield for the downtown charm
- Pick up fresh treats at Heirloom Market
- Head over to Webb0Deane-Stevens Museum
- Stop to eat under the lights at Lucky Lou's Bar & Grill
- Stay the night at Silas Robbins Bed & Breakfast.
I know I said it before, but I love this idea. It's really cool that we're the first state in the nation to do this, and I hope a lot of people take advantage of it. It looks like there was a lot of planning that went into this and I hope people bop around and take in the beauty of winter in Connecticut.
I can't wait to take a look around and find some hidden gems that I had no idea about. When I do, I'll be sure to report back.
