It's the last week of September 2024, we're officially into fall, and the saddest part of this time of year is creeping up on us - Some of our seasonal restaurants have already packed up for the winter, even though it's still 70 degrees outside.

The first seasonal restaurant to close down in 2024 is one of the greatest ones in all of Connecticut - Brookfield's Down the Hatch on Candlewood Lake Road has already closed down for 2024. The last day for the hatch was Sunday, September 15. The restaurant will be closed through the upcoming winter and reopen for the 2025 season in May.

The next closing that I found out about is happening next weekend when Bantam's Gooseboro Drive-In will empty out the fryers on the 2024 season for the last time on Friday, October 4, 2024. This hurts, Gooseboro has been my go-to this summer for my hotdog and fried clam fix on the way home to Torrington. On a bright note: Italian Al's has just re-opened in New Preston, a fried dough is a good substitute for clams.

The Place in Guilford has just announced that they will be closing up for the 2024 season on Sunday, October 27. You still have four weeks to enjoy their incredible wood-fired clams and incredible corn on the cob. Noank's Abbot's Lobster in the Rough has announced an unusual day of the week, Monday, October 14 will be their final day for the 2024 season. Finally, there has been no date announced for the seasonal closing at the Frankie's restaurant on Watertown Avenue in Waterbury, I need fried mushrooms and cheese cubes immediately.
