I-95 Exclusive: The Members of Collective Soul Had to be Separated
Collective Soul and +LIVE+ are set to reunite for 2025 Summer Unity Tour. For the first time in 17 years, Collective Soul and +LIVE+ are hitting the road together. The two rock heavyweights just announced their 2025 co-headlining Summer Unity Tour, bringing special guests Our Lady Peace and Greylin James Rue along for the ride.
In a joint statement, both bands reflected on their decades-long friendship—dating all the way back to Woodstock '94—and promised a summer packed with high-energy shows and good vibes. The tour includes a stop close to home on Sunday, July 27 at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, CT.
We caught up with Ed Roland of Collective Soul to talk about the tour, his bond with +LIVE+, and an amazing career, this was our favorite moment from that chat.
Lou: You know, Ed, you and your brother Dean have been at this—in the same band—for a long time. How come we never read about, you know, the Gallagher brothers from Oasis and the Robinson brothers from The Black Crowes, you know, beating the hell out of each other? We never hear about you guys getting arrested for, you know, punching each other in the face.
Ed: "Well, first off, I don't want to hurt my hand—because it ain't worth it. I don't want to break a guitar; I like my guitars more than him. I'm joking! The whole band loves each other. We hang out all the time, even when we're home. Actually, it was years ago—decades ago—we all lived in Atlanta. Eventually, the wives were like—because we'd come home after being on the road for three or four months and immediately start hanging out with each other again—finally, the wives were like, 'You know, enough of this.' So, one family moved to Tennessee, another to Indiana, my brother moved to San Diego, and we just kind of, you know… spread out. But we still go on vacations together. I mean, that sounds weird, but it's true—we just enjoy each other's company."
Their wives had to separate them because they were having too much fun. That's like grade-school children, I love it.
