I am still astounded by the prices of everyday grocery items in Connecticut. Let me illustrate exactly what I'm talking about. The website Visual Capitalist recently posted an article titled "How Much Americans Spend on Groceries in Each State," on a weekly average. The five states with the highest weekly grocery bills were:

  1. Hawaii: $333.88/$1,335/month
  2. Alaska: $328.71/$1,316/month
  3. California: $297.72/$1,192/month
  4. Nevada: $294.76/$1,176/month
  5. Mississippi: $290.64/$1,164/month

Connecticut surprisingly ranked 24th with a weekly average grocery bill of $265.90 or $1,064/month. To sample the entire list, click on delish.com.
