How Much do You Need to Make to Be Considered Wealthy in CT?
According to a study from Hello Millions, Connecticut is a ridiculous place to live when it comes to wealth. What would you need to make to be considered in the Top 10% of the State's earners?
The numbers are making my cheeks hurt (yep, cheeks).
If you're trying to break into the top 10% of earners in Connecticut, strap your face to the nearest pressure treated doorway. You need to take in at least $242,480 a year. SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s 4th highest in the entire country. We're apparently living in Beverly Hill East now. Things are just as expensive but it's way easier for your nipples to get hard here. Between Stamford’s finance bros (ugh) and Hartford’s insurance giants (yawn), CT is swimming in big money—and clearly, you need a lot of it to even get close to the top.
What’s wild is that Connecticut is even pricier than California, which lands fifth. Yup, Silicon Valley, palm trees, and Tom Cruise laughing more than is humanly comfortable are all apparently cheaper to keep up with, than life in Fairfield County.
The reason? A combo of sky-high salaries in finance, proximity to NYC, and industries that just don’t stop printing money. It’s great if you’re already rolling in dough, but for everyone else it's a bloodbath. Good luck affording groceries without the assistance of Only Fans pervs. Better get that pedicure you've been putting off because we're out of milk!
What about our neighbors in New York? It’s in 10th place at $203K, which feels almost… reasonable? That is scary when NYC feels reasonable. Bottom line: You're breathing up the rich man's oxygen in the Nutmeg State. Taste it.
